Health Professions is seeking a core faculty member to support the Nutrition Program (MNUTR) .
Coordinate and prepare all assigned courses and lectures for presentation at the scheduled time.
Present designated course materials to students in an organized and effective manner to enable enhanced student learning.
Actively participate in all small groups and individual student practice and competency evaluations.
Actively participate in the construction, evaluation, and review of single best answer test questions within industry-accepted guidelines.
Participate in quality assurance for exams.
Meet deadlines for exams and posting of scores as established by program protocols and schedules.
Participate in the evaluation of course and program effectiveness.
Interact with and promote teamwork within the department and with other EVMS departments in the delivery of the MNUTR curriculum.
Contribute to the development and delivery of course content in alignment with ACEND-required Knowledge and Competency Requirements for Dietitian Nutritionists (KRDNs).
GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE
Support and promote the institution and the MNUTR Program mission, goals, and policies.
Contribute to the Program Director’s efforts to implement a premiere nutrition educational program.
Uphold the standards and policies outlined in the MNUTR Academic Handbook.
Serve as an advocate for the program and communicate program needs to the Program Director.
Create and promote a positive work/teaching/learning environment among students and staff through teamwork and open communication.
Attend scheduled departmental and program meetings.
Hold regularly scheduled and walk-in office hours to respond to student issues/concerns.
Respond to internal and external requests as delegated by the Program Director in a timely and efficient manner.
Assist with the preparation, implementation, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts required for ACEND accreditation, including curriculum development, self-study documentation, and program assessment.
Other duties as assigned.
GENERAL SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES
For RDNs only: maintain RDN certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Participate on Program committees.
Attendance at CME or other professional meetings is encouraged.
Participation in institutional and professional committees is encouraged.
SCHOLARSHIP/RESEARCH EFFORTS
Research relevant, current information and theories related to medical education.
Actively participate in ongoing research projects.
Engage in scholarly activities, leading to publication in a professional journal, research project, and/or presentation.
Required: Master’s Degree in nutrition or related field
Preferred: Doctorate in nutrition or related field (e.g., PhD, DCN, EdD)
Preferred: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
Required: experience in leadership and teaching roles, including experience with distance or online education.
Preferred: clinical nutrition experience.
Required: excellent organizational skills; strong written and verbal communication abilities; commitment to program development; and a proactive, adaptable approach to new challenges
Required: familiarity with using generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in teaching, research, or academic administration.
