Business Intelligence Developer

Overall Purpose

The Business Intelligence Developer evaluates, designs and develops business intelligence solutions.  They work closely across multiple business functions and technology partners to interpret metrics into information clarity that informs planning, measuring, trending and enhanced operational performance.  They research technology best-practices, implement frameworks, and align BI directions with strategic business initiatives.  Analyze metrics sources, monitor data quality, define logical inter-dependencies, develop datamarts and build comprehensive business process dashboards.

Essential Functions

  • Work with business users to define new and existing requirements for reports and dashboards as well as identify gaps in data, logic, and business understanding.
  • Using Tableau, create complex, visually appealing, and interactive dashboards/ scorecards/ reports to support business processes, including related trends, and projections.
  • Run advanced Business Objects reporting that fulfill requests and that act as a data sources for Tableau reporting.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to come up with logical results and perform cause and effect analysis based on the data available.
  • Design data ETL and manipulations to support production and ad-hoc analyses and reports.
  • Investigate industry best-practices and help guide strategic data platforms, tools and processes.
  • Recommends standards, policies and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of the BI tools and systems.
  • Provides support and training to business teams as necessary.
  • Support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

For Consumer Services:

  • Design and build interactive Tableau dashboards and scorecards that support business processes, operational performance, forecasting, and trend analysis.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support call center operations through capacity modeling, staffing optimization, and KPI measurement.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes using SSIS, Apache Airflow, and AWS Glue.
  • Query data from relational and distributed systems using T-SQL, PL/SQL, Impala/Hive, and SOQL.
  • Integrate data from external systems using REST and SOAP APIs, including platforms like Salesforce and AWS.
  • Investigate and apply BI best practices to ensure data governance, integrity, and performance.
  • Provide guidance and training to business users to enhance data literacy and promote self-service analytics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management or specialized training/certification or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of Tableau Server and Tableau Dashboard.
  • Demonstrated ability with testing, problem solving and analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principle, practices and techniques of dashboard development, reporting, data modeling, ETL and systems design.
  • Experience working with MS SQL query language and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in communicating with both technical and business teams.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills and exemplary analytical skills.
  • Background and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Tableau desktop and Tableau Server.
  • Experience creating Tableau to Hadoop dashboards using Cloudera Impala and/or Hive.
  • Experience with Business Objects universes and Webi reports.
  • Experience utilizing/building connections to cloud SaaS offerings such as AWS, Salesforce and Google.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:

Phoenix, AZ in USD per year is:$100,000 - $130,000.

Early Warning Services takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining a competitive salary offer, including, but not limited to, the job scope, market rates and geographic location of a position, candidate’s education, experience, training, and specialized skills or certification(s) in relation to the job requirements and compared with internal equity (peers). The business actively supports and reviews wage equity to ensure that pay decisions are not based on gender, race, national origin, or any other protected classes.
