Senior Staff Relevance Engineer
Skills
- Strong experience with ML/DL and modern modeling techniques (transformers, self-supervised pretraining, generative modeling, LLMs)
- Hands-on experience training and serving models at scale using PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Production engineering skills for deployment, monitoring, and model lifecycle management
- Proficient coding in Python, Java, or C++
- Experience designing and analyzing A/B experiments and statistical analysis
- Ability to communicate technical results to leadership and cross-functional teams
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and root-cause major defects in Coupang search experience and propose scalable solutions
- Design, build, train, and deploy ML models (including LLM and deep learning approaches) for search relevance and retrieval
- Run experiments and A/B tests, analyze results, and translate insights into product and model requirements
- Establish automated, scalable processes for data analysis, model development, validation, and serving
- Present technical results and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional partners
- Mentor junior engineers and help raise ML capabilities across teams
- Drive consensus as a technical thought leader on complex, ambiguous problems
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (required)
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
