Finance Manager, Operations

Who You Are:  

You are a highly analytical and detail-oriented finance professional with a deep understanding of cost of sales in a high-growth food CPG environment. You thrive in fast-paced settings, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution and process-building. You’ve managed complex cost structures and partnered cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, R&D,and Accounting teams to drive efficiency and improve profitability. You know that every penny matters when manufacturing food products and are relentless in ensuring accuracy of our cost estimates. You’re passionate about translating financial data into actionable insights and eager to make an impact in a dynamic, growing company.

 

The Task At Hand: 

As the Finance Manager, Operations, you will own all aspects of operational finance, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and predictability in the financial performance of our supply chain. You will play a critical role in forecasting, reporting, and optimizing cost structures, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive margin improvement and financial efficiency. This role blends strategic finance, operational insight, and financial reporting, requiring a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and strong analytical skills.


In This Role, You Will:

• Lead supply chain financial management, including COGS analysis, variance reporting, and financial forecasting to enhance cost visibility and control

• Provide financial insights into cost drivers, risks & opportunities

• Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to analyze and optimize ingredient, packaging, and freight costs

• Work closely with Operations and Engineering to drive co-packer performance, ensuring financial accountability, cost efficiency, and alignment with business objectives

• Identify and help implement, prioritize, track, and measure margin improvement initiatives

• Develop and refine costing models for new product development, SKU rationalization, and pricing strategies, collaborating with Marketing and R&D to align cost projections with margin expectations

• Ensure accurate inventory valuation, PPV tracking, and cost accounting in partnership with the accounting team, supporting month-end close processes

• Partner with Procurement, Manufacturing, and Accounting to establish and maintain accurate standard costing

• Build and maintain financial models for scenario planning, forecasting, and decision support, ensuring data-driven business strategies

• Perform what-if analysis to assess the financial impact of changes in sourcing, production, pricing, and operational strategies

• Support capital investment analysis, evaluating cost-saving initiatives, efficiency projects, and strategic investments to optimize operational spend

• Provide Operations Finance leadership on annual planning and development of financial KPIs, such as gross margin, contribution margin, and cost savings targets

• Evolve and implement scalable FP&A processes and tools to enhance data accuracy, streamline reporting, and improve the overall quality and speed of financial analysis

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and best practices in cost accounting and inventory management


In This Role, You’ll Bring With You:

• 5+ years of finance experience, with a strong background in cost accounting, supply chain finance, and/or FP&A

• A deep understanding of COGS, standard costing, inventory accounting, and financial reporting in a manufacturing or food production environment

• Experience working with co-manufacturers, a plus

• Public accounting and/or CPA, a plus

• A proven ability to analyze and optimize cost structures, with strong financial modeling and data analysis skills

• A solid knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms

• Up to 10% travel required: Although this role is a remote work-from-home position, we “Farmers” do meet as a company and/or as a department a few times a year. Anticipate possible travel up to a few times each quarter

• A genuine passion for improving childhood nutrition for a healthier and happier planet

• A desire to contribute to a dynamic, high-growth, purpose-driven work environment

• A Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity, deeply understand business needs, develop a cohesive strategy, and make decisions requiring a high level of judgment

• A previous exposure to cross-functional work between Sustainability and Finance preferred

• Must reside in the United States to be considered for this position

Compensation:

• Full-Time, Salaried, Non-Exempt

• The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $150,000.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a few factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses, stipends, equity, and role-specific perks.
