Goal of COO: Ensure the organization delivers exceptional value to clients and employees by strategically optimizing operational capabilities and executing the company's vision with quality. The COO is a crucial partner in translating strategic vision into executable plans. This role holds the leadership team accountable for shared commitments, driving results and strategic alignment.

The COO will optimize resource utilization for long-term profitability, provide strategic oversight for business development, and enhance internal processes to ensure a superior customer experience. This includes strategically managing critical resources (people, infrastructure, equipment), advocating for necessary frameworks, elevating operational capabilities, guiding marketing initiatives, contributing to the strategic budget, and safeguarding financial integrity. Ultimately, the COO is a key leader in shaping a positive culture and pivotal to the strategic health and operational excellence of the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee strategic workforce planning and resource allocation models for employees, aligning expectations with project execution.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of pipeline, current work, and future staffing needs, optimizing overall capacity.
  • Provide strategic insights and analysis on operational performance, identifying key gaps and areas for scalable growth and efficiency.
  • Establish frameworks for systemic roadblock removal and foster an environment of empowerment and proactive problem-solving for all employees.
  • Lead the strategic implementation of high-level organizational goals across all departments in coordination with leadership and directors.
  • Champion and articulate the strategic vision and its operational implications across the organization.
  • Consistent and accountable execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Strategic resolution of inter-departmental conflicts and elimination of organizational silos to foster cross-functional synergy.
  • Effective flow of strategic communication from the leadership team down to all levels of the organization, and critical feedback up.
  • Clear, adaptive resource plans that enable our strategic projects to be optimally staffed.
  • Defined and optimized processes that streamline our workflow and provide access to critical, systemic support that unblocks our teams.
  • Overall process efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Strategic guidance on enterprise-level areas of opportunity, improvement, and risk.
  • High-level resource planning and forecasting (who’s working what, for how long, what next).
  • Spearheading strategies to steer the company’s future in a positive and sustainable direction.
  • Provides strategic oversight for financial and budget activities, in close partnership with the CFO.
  • Oversees the strategic direction of marketing initiatives and champions the implementation of best-in-class business practices.
  • Delegating strategic responsibilities to foster growth and development in staff members as capable participants and future leaders.
  • A highly efficient, strategically driven operation that fosters sustainable growth and a culture of accountability and high performance.

  • Serve as the primary point of strategic resolution for complex internal cross-functional issues.
  • Lead the effective implementation and continuous optimization of the company's operations at an organizational level.
  • Ensure the strategic vision is not just set, but deeply embedded and lived daily throughout operations, driving the operational excellence that underpins our financial health and market competitiveness. Ensures the leadership team operates as a cohesive, high-performing unit, focused on collective strategic goals.
  • Drive strategic accountability throughout the organization for achieving key results.
  • The strategic leader responsible for identifying and solving systemic operational issues affecting our teams, and ensures our departmental goals align perfectly with the broader company vision.
  • Provides strategic oversight for proposal development, manages high-priority organizational issues, serves as a visionary leader who consistently improves and develops others, and actively helps identify and nurture future leaders within the organization.
  • Provides strategic oversight of essential corporate services, including facilities and administrative functions, ensuring they support long-term operational needs.
  • Collaborate strategically with the CFO to increase understanding of rates and the long-term impact of operational decisions on rates and profitability.
  • Work closely with the CEO and other stakeholders to optimize the strategic contract negotiation and business development processes.
  • An active ambassador for the company's core values, mission, and strategic direction, both internally and externally.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • The right candidate will possess a substantial track record in executive leadership roles, with at least 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, with a significant portion at a C-suite or equivalent senior executive level in Defense Contracting organizations focused on technology, innovation, and complex problem-solving. The emphasis is on proven ability to operate at a strategic, organizational scale.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance with the US Government.
