The ideal candidate is a player coach: comfortable rolling up their sleeves to query data, design dashboards, and build models, while also setting a clear vision for how data supports growth, engagement, and mission impact.

Location: San Francisco, California

Reports To: Chief Product & Technology Officer

Level: 5

Salary: $140,000–$166,250 per year

Type: Full-time, exempt

What You'll Do

Data Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and evolve the organizational data strategy and architecture, ensuring that data pipelines and models effectively serve the needs of the Product, Marketing, and Membership systems.
  • Design and oversee business data architecture—including data flow designs, system integration, and schema management—to support robust lifecycle marketing and audience segmentation.
  • Establish data governance standards in collaboration with the Legal and Privacy teams.
  • Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization, and act as the main data evangelist and educator, leading workshops on leveraging data to drive actionable insights.

Analytics & Insights

  • Build and lead a team of analysts, architects, and visualization specialists to deliver high-quality dashboards, reports, and insights.
  • Translate complex data into clear narratives that influence strategy and operational priorities.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to design and evaluate experiments, track user engagement, and guide product evolution.
  • Build predictive churn and subscription models, forecast member growth, and define and track OKRs that guide product evolution and marketing performance.
  • Partner with Marketing to measure campaign performance, audience growth, and brand impact.

Hands-On Execution

  • Conduct hands-on analysis (SQL, BI tools, Python/R, etc.) where needed to prototype solutions or guide the team.
  • Build and maintain key dashboards to track KPIs for executives and teams.
  • Ensure smooth integration of data across systems (Braze, Salesforce, Amplitude, GA, etc.).

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a small team of data analysts, architects, and visualization specialists.
  • Set clear priorities and ensure timely delivery of high-impact data projects.
  • Foster collaboration and professional development within the team.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in data and analytics roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills in SQL and modern BI/analytics platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI, AWS QuickSight, Amplitude, Google Analytics).
  • Experience with subscription management systems, including designing subscription data infrastructure, analyzing churn and retention metrics, and integrating subscription platforms with marketing and CRM systems.
  • Proven experience developing data strategies that inform product and marketing decisions.
  • Experience managing data teams (analysts, architects, visualization experts).
  • Familiarity with CRM and marketing automation platforms (Salesforce, Braze) and their data integrations.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to translate data into actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, compliance, and privacy issues.

What We Offer:

  • The chance to work with talented, passionate professionals.
  • A great health and welfare benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and a matching 401(k).
  • An organization that offers work/life balance.
  • The opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of kids and families!
