Role Type: This is a full-time position
About the Team
AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, AP provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is undergoing an ambitious digital transformation to better serve millions of students and educators.
AP Content & Assessment Production designs and delivers high-quality, teacher- and student-facing resources that deepen learning, promote instructional equity, and ensure every AP assessment is fair, valid, and operationally sound for millions of students. Our team oversees the end-to-end production of internally developed assessments and publications, partners on technology and system infrastructure, and manages resources that power AP curriculum and assessment innovation — all in service of student success.
About the Opportunity
As an Assistant Director on the AP Production & Delivery team, you will play a vital role in supporting a leadership team that oversees the end-to-end exam delivery value chain —from test production to exam delivery and scoring. You’ll provide high-impact coordination and operational support across a team of 100+ professionals. You will work closely with the leadership team to manage strategic calendars, organize key initiatives, and execute activities that are critical to advancing the AP Digital Roadmap and transforming the AP exam delivery value chain —an effort focused on modernizing and insourcing essential capabilities. Your work will contribute directly to ensuring that our solutions continue to deliver value to AP students and educators nationwide. This is an ideal opportunity for a highly organized, detail-oriented early career professional who is eager to grow, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is motivated by mission-driven work in service of expanding access to college-level learning.
In this role, you will:
Provide Departmental and Organizational Support (40%)
Streamline Departmental Infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain systems that enhance team efficiency and productivity in alignment with key milestones and the AP Digital Roadmap strategy.
Coordinate with Organizational Stakeholders: Serve as a trusted liaison across internal departments and external partners, ensuring consistent communication, tracking of deliverables, and clarity of ownership on behalf of the VP, AP Production & Delivery.
Maintain Alignment with Evolving Organizational Priorities: Conduct regular check-ins with cross-functional leaders to stay current on priorities, surface challenges, and identify opportunities to improve alignment and planning.
Support Insourcing Initiatives for AP Production & Delivery (40%)
Enable Strategic Initiatives: Support the VP of AP Production & Delivery in scheduling, tracking, and follow-up for all key exam delivery value chain roadmap-related initiatives—especially those tied to scoring 40+ AP subjects, upstream dependencies on test development processes and technology-enhanced exam production, the annual AP Reading event, a broader scoring transformation initiative leveraging AI as part of an enhanced FRQ rating capability and the broader modernization of the end to end process.
Drive Progress through Coordination: Plan and coordinate meetings and documentation efforts that inform decision-making, clarify new process development, and disseminate critical information across AP and divisional leadership.
Build Annual Cycle Readiness: Ensure annual cycle planning for insourcing is well-documented, time-bound, and proactively managed to reduce friction and enable smooth transitions.
Foster Team and Talent Engagement (20%)
Lead Planning and Engagement Activities: Organize quarterly and annual planning sessions, on-site events, and team-wide meetings that foster collaboration, transparency, and shared purpose aligned to the College Board’s Operating Principles.
Support Talent Initiatives: Collaborate with leadership to plan and execute professional learning and growth opportunities aligned with the department’s strategic goals.
Onboard New Team Members: Develop and manage onboarding processes for new hires and internal transfers, ensuring smooth integration into the team and role clarity from day one.
