SUMMARY
Join the City of Charlotte's Department of Planning, Design and Development's Land Development division as an Assistant to the Bond Administrator. The City’s Land Development Bond Program facilitates real estate transactions in the absence of completed public improvements while ensuring adherence to City standards. The Assistant Bond Administrator’s primary responsibility will be to provide direct support to the Bond Administrator with carrying out a variety of critical tasks involved in managing and supporting the City's Subdivision Bond Program, currently overseeing over 800 sureties valued at more than $400 million.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing guidance and Bond Estimate information to applicants to aid with their ability to successfully post required bonds for plat approval.
Assists with the review, acceptance and processing of all new sureties, reductions of current sureties, and replacement of sureties posted with the City of Charlotte.
Monitor Letter of Credit renewals, ensuring timely receipt before expiration.
Support the surety release process, including coordinating final inspections, handling Accela database close-out, preparing release letters, and file management.
Assist in processing Notices of Default for Surety Bonds and Sight Drafts for Letters of Credit, including monitoring deposits and expenditures for default sureties.
Assist with the administrative processes related to the City's Street Acceptance, from surety release to City acceptance.
Collaborate with various City departments, including Transportation, Stormwater/Land Development, Planning, Finance, and City Attorney's office.
Assist with scheduling both interdepartmental and developer meetings as needed, preparing agendas, summaries and/or follow up on assignments.
Process invoices and payment of surety posting fees in the Accela database.
Provide customer service support through phone, email, and in-person interactions regarding the Bond Administration Program.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in business administration functions
Background related to working in a customer service environment within land development, engineering, planning, and/or architectural industries.
Understanding of land development and/or construction terminology or processes
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration with one year of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
