About the Position of Associate Dean of the University Library
The Associate Dean is primarily responsible for Access Services, which includes the following service and service support areas: Guest Services (Circulation, Shelving, Automated Storage/Retrieval System; Interlibrary Loan); Teacher Curriculum Center/Music & Media; University Library Map Collection; Course Reserves & Curricular Resources. This position works closely with University Library faculty and staff to ensure that the research and teaching needs of CSUN students, faculty, and staff are met. The Associate Dean serves as administrative support for these areas, providing excellent customer service. The Associate Dean plays a key role in managing library facilities and operations, including managing policies, serving on various Library and University committees, critical library reporting, and risk mitigation.
The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the University Library and as the deputy to the Dean, assumes responsibility for the Library in the Dean's absence. The Associate Dean represents the Dean at campus and system-wide meetings as required and works as part of the Library's administrative team.
