The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is looking for a Safety Data Analytics Manager to lead and manage the Safety Data Analytics Team within Enterprise Safety and Mission Assurance. This position will be based out of the Everett, WA or Seattle, WA locations.
Enterprise Safety and Mission Assurance (ESMA) team within Safety, Security and Airworthiness (S,S&A) Organization is part of the larger Chief Aerospace Safety Office (CASO) organization and is hiring a K-Level manager to focus on developing safety data analytics tools/application and ML capabilities in support of managing product safety risk in our fleet of diverse products across the Enterprise and to develop proactive safety strategies. There are vast amounts of operational data to be mined both inside and outside of the Boeing Company and new technologies are fostering the creation of innovative tools to glean product safety information from that data. This leader will lead our Data Analytics team in alignment with the mission and vision of ESMA and Safety & Airworthiness Engineering Function’s Chief Engineer office.
The team works closely with BR&T Data Science, BGS Data Analytics and other expertise from across the organization in support of stakeholders from across the CASO organization. The successful candidate will integrate across a variety of teams within CASO and support the needs of Boeing programs and Business Units. A passion for safety and insight into the art of possibility in the analytics space are also highly desirable to build a strong foundation of safety data taxonomy and architecture.
The successful candidate will need to thrive in an environment that leverages a collaborative culture around project management approaches like Agile & Scrum. Curiosity, Courage and Creativity will be important attributes of this leader to ensure we apply safety data intentionally towards decision making across the Enterprise.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead, mentors, and manages a team of Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and Business Intelligence Analysts
Create an innovative data driven approach to the Boeing Safety Management System (SMS) that will evolve the current processes in the direction of increasing proactivity, ultimately leading to a predictive approach to product safety risk management and safety assurance
Oversee the collection, analysis and interpretation of safety data from various sources and drive insight into future product design.
Develops safety data analytics tools/application, capabilities, guidance and training material in support of managing product safety risk in our fleet of products across the Enterprise and to develop proactive safety strategies
Collaborate with teams from across CASO organization to integrate safety data insights into decision making progress
Communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner
Provide training and support to team members on data analytics tools and methodologies
Encourage professional development and continuous learning within the team to enhance skill sets and knowledge
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
5+ years of experience in an Engineering related role or in data analytics, statistics or a related field
3+ years in leadership either formally or informally leading teams
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Strong background and familiarity with data analysis tools and software (Python, R,SQL, Tableau)
High level understanding of applications that utilize Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning techniques
Experience with the safety data ecosystem related to product safety
Experience with the BCA Continued Operational Safety Process (COSP), hazard identification, and Safety Risk Management approaches per MIL-STD-882
Experience leading teams through change, particularly in adopting new technologies or processes related to safety analytics.
Experience participating in or leading Agile/Scrum teams
