About the role

As our Founding Forward Deployed Engineer, you will lead our most complex and high-stakes customer deployments. This is a hybrid role: you are a builder, a technical strategist, and a customer-facing partner all in one. You'll embed directly with customer engineering teams where performance, latency, and human-like interaction are critical, acting as the primary technical owner to map their needs, structure the integration, and ship solutions fast.

You will not only scope, design, and build full-stack solutions but also create the processes and best practices for this function from the ground up. You'll be a critical feedback loop, driving clarity across internal and external teams and surfacing patterns from the field that directly influence our core product and research roadmaps. You will set the bar for how we deliver value to our partners.

In this role you will:

• Own the end-to-end technical delivery for our most strategic customer deployments, from initial prototype to stable production.

• Build full-stack systems, custom integrations, and developer tools (e.g., SDKs, examples) that deliver customer value and accelerate adoption.

• Embed closely with customer teams, acting as their trusted technical advisor to understand their needs, debug complex issues, and guide the adoption of our platform.

• Scope complex, often ambiguous, projects, sequence the delivery, and proactively remove blockers.

• Make pragmatic trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality to ensure successful customer outcomes.

• Write and review production-grade code across our stack (Typescript/React/Node, Python/Go; note, it’s Ok to pick up languages as you go) when progress or clarity depends on it.

• Establish and codify the reusable patterns, tools, and best practices that will become the FDE team's playbook.

• Share critical field feedback that helps our Research and Product teams understand where our AI personas succeed and where they can improve.

You might thrive in this role if you:

• Bring 5+ years of engineering experience, with a significant portion in a customer-facing role (e.g., solutions engineering, forward deployment, technical consulting).

• Have scoped and delivered complex software systems in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

• Are a strong full-stack engineer with experience in Typescript.

• Write and review production-grade code and are comfortable diving into new languages like Python or Go.

• Have built or deployed systems powered by AI, LLMs, or other generative models and understand how model behaviour impacts product experience.

• Are a "product-minded" engineer who can simplify complexity and make fast, sound decisions under pressure.

• Communicate clearly and effectively with engineers, product managers, and senior customer stakeholders.

• Have strong customer empathy and a passion for developer experience.
