About the Position:
As SUD/AOD Counselor II you will support the community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDTP).
- Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
- Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum as required by contract. Leads and participates in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic processes.
- Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectation for participation and completion.
- Works directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community.
- Review treatment plans, evaluate and record treatment progress, records visible changes in appearance, behavior and demeanor of program participants.
- Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential participant records. Evaluates and documents the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
- Completes all delivery documentation requirements per contractual obligations in ARMS. Summarizes participants’ background, treatment plan, and recovery process outcomes.
- Prepares accurate, concise, informative reports, records and plans that are consistent with Amity standards, and complies with applicable clinical and administrative rules.
- Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plans and prepares transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
- Works collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS and institution staff. Supports and collaborates co-faculty, including but not limited to Supervisors, Directors and Regional Directors.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Counselor II must meet one (1) of the following minimum requirements:
- A Master’s Degree or above in a social service-related field; and licensed by, OR registered with, the Board of Behavioral Sciences; OR Registered with an AOD certifying organization recognized by DHCS; OR
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a social service-related field and AOD certified, OR
- An Associate’s Degree in social service-related field, AOD certified, and six (6) months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor, OR
- AOD certified and one (1) to two (2) years of experience providing SUDT/AOD Counselor.
- Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical and social effects of drug abuse.
- Knowledge of contractual requirements of ISUDTP is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
- Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participants.
- Protect and maintain program participants’ health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.

- A Bachelor's Degree in a social service-related field, AOD Certified
- An Associates' Degree in a social service-related field, AOD certified, and THREE (2) years of certified experience providing SUDT services as a AOD Counselor;
- AOD certified and more than FIVE (4-5) years of certified experience providing certified SUDT services as a certified AOD counselor.
