Felt stuck and underpaid near the NYC office. They push for remote work but still expect holiday emails answered so work/life balance is basically doesn't exist. Leadership rarely listens, advancement is unclear and raises are a joke. I stuck it out six months and had to leave for sanity.

teammates are really kind and mission‑focused, but upper leadership feels out of touch. lots of meetings that go nowhere and no real follow‑through. compensation is kinda off for the workload. good people but the structure’s broken.

The mission is inspiring yet the governance messed it all up. Board-level management seemed clueless and even canceled conferences last minute for no good reason!

Senior directors are supportive and smart, and culture isn’t toxic. Still, the nonprofit is tiny and under‑resourced, so you’re always running behind. If you love the mission and want friendly coworkers, it can feel rewarding.
