The AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team shapes the digital transformation necessary for our treatments to positively impact patients' lives. In the role of Portfolio Manager, you'll tackle complex challenges as you develop and diversify your professional experiences while helping others grow and develop their skills. 

In this role, you will manage a variety of interrelated projects within a portfolio and lead all aspects of the project life-cycle, working with project sponsors/key stakeholders, team members, and management to oversee all phases of project completion. Build and manage a project’s work breakdown structure, milestones, risks, issues, and deliverables within the constraints of human and financial resources and changing priorities to ensure the successful completion of the project. Ensure transparent reporting of project status, issues, risks, and financials. 

Responsibilities

  •  Initiate and Plan Project: Works with business and IT management to establish and gain consensus on project goals, objectives, financials, and deliverables. Responsible for building the plan and resources needs to accomplish the scope. 
  • Project Control: Assess the degree to which changes to scope, issues and risks will affect the project working with business and IT management and sponsor to gain agreement for resolution. Measure performance to ensure the project is progressing as compared to original plan and budget. 
  • Executing and Closing Project: Develops and executes a work plan obtaining authorized resources to ensure all activities are performed. Leads team in delivering project scope. Gather lessons learned and obtain final project approval from sponsor and stakeholders. 
  • Project Communication: Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate program status and decision support information to project teams, business, and IT management. Makes recommendations based on current project status to resolve issues and manage risks. 
  • Resource and Team Management: Coordinate resources to ensure project needs are addressed and effectively assign tasks and deliverables to team members based upon their abilities. Motivates project team in order to deliver project outcomes. 
  • Quality Management: Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and functional policies and procedures. 
  • Decisions: Make decisions that impact project level activities. Influences or has final decision authority for project budget. 
  • Financial Control: Develops and manages a large financial plan with multi-million dollar spend over multiple years. Tracks actuals spend, accruals, proactively creates spend estimates on a regular basis (at least monthly) and coordinates estimates and invoices with project vendors, in order to maintain spend at +/- 10% of the overall project budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years experience OR Masters Degree with 7 years experience OR PhD with 3 years experience
  • At least 8 years of proven experience with driving projects through various phases of a system development lifecycle (SDLC), using Waterfall and Agile Methodologies as appropriate 
  • At Least 5 years of experience managing significant IT projects in a Pharma environment 
  • Must have managed Project budgets in excess of $1MM 
  • Demonstrable Executive Presence 
  • Proven Microsoft Office skills 

Preferred:

  • PMP Certification  
  • PPM Tool experience including, but not limited to, Broadcom Clarity v15, Microsoft Project Professional 2013, and Microsoft Project Server 
  • Experience, in a Pharma environment, managing Enterprise application development and/or application integration/migration projects 
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at thetime of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location,and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. ​

  • We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​

  • This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs​
