Technical Writer/Trainer

9th Way Insignia is a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business delivering cybersecurity, cloud modernization, software development, analytics, and enterprise IT solutions to government customers. We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer/Trainer to create and maintain user-centered documentation, release communications, and training materials for the EASS eCMS portfolio, ensuring compliance with VA standards and Section 508 accessibility while supporting release readiness and user adoption.

Skills

  • Strong technical writing and editing for enterprise systems and SOPs
  • Experience authoring release notes and stakeholder communications
  • Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements and VA writing standards
  • SharePoint administration and content governance experience
  • Familiarity with UAT processes, test script creation, and defect tracking
  • Training design and development, including job aids and video content
  • Document/version control and lifecycle management
  • Ability to work with cross-functional federal teams and stakeholders
  • Eligibility to obtain Public Trust (Tier 2) clearance

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain SOPs, user guides, system documentation, workflows, and operational reference materials for the EASS eCMS portfolio
  • Author and publish clear, user-centered release notes and stakeholder communications for each system release
  • Support training readiness and align documentation and training deliverables to release cycles and stakeholder expectations
  • Create and maintain system lifecycle documentation, workflows, business process maps, and functional reference models
  • Collaborate with leadership, analysts, developers, testers, trainers, and VA stakeholders to gather requirements and validate content
  • Ensure documentation meets Section 508 accessibility, VA writing standards, formatting policies, and approved style guides
  • Support UAT by drafting test scripts, documenting defects, tracking resolutions, and updating documentation
  • Develop training content and communications (job aids, step-action procedures, how-to guides, knowledge base content, training videos) and support training delivery
  • Create and maintain SharePoint and collaboration solutions for documentation access, approvals, intake workflows, and content governance
  • Maintain version control and document lifecycle tracking to ensure accuracy and auditability
  • Develop stakeholder messaging, status updates, user readiness communications, and release awareness materials
  • Document meeting minutes, action items, decisions, and follow-ups from program meetings and scrums
  • Recommend documentation and communication improvements to support usability and mission adoption

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (or 8 additional years of directly relevant experience in lieu of degree)
  • 10+ years of relevant technical writing/training experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust (Tier 2 Moderate Risk) clearance (active preferred)
