1Password believes that soon every Developer will be an AI Developer. We are looking for a Principal Product Marketing Manager to define how 1Password supports the full spectrum of modern AI-forward software builders across every industry, team size, and level of development experience. This senior individual-contributor role focuses on helping developers, DevOps and DevSecOps teams understand how 1Password secures identities, secrets, services, automation, and emerging agent-driven workflows across today’s rapidly evolving development landscape.
Software creation now extends far beyond traditional engineering teams. Experienced developers are building distributed services, integrating APIs, automating pipelines, and managing complex environments. Meanwhile, non-traditional developers are using scripting, low-code tools, and increasingly AI-assisted approaches to build internal tools, automated processes, and lightweight agents. Every one of these projects introduces new identities, credentials, and access paths that need to be secured.
This reality creates two critical challenges:
(1) How to discover, secure, and govern the growing number of developer-driven or shadow projects—including onboarding new agents, securing machine-to-system access and providing identity services for internally-built tools and automations.
(2) How to help every developer of every background, tooling, or experience level to become a secure developer, supported by guardrails and seamless security tooling that fits directly into their workflows.
This role sits at the center of both challenges.
You will shape how 1Password empowers all types of developers to build securely, while enabling IT and Security teams to provide safe, scalable foundations. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and GTM teams to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives. You will help bring new capabilities to market, sharpen 1Password’s position within the developer security ecosystem, and guide customers as they modernize and secure their development practices.
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
What you will do:
Lead Product Marketing for 1Password Developer solutions
Own product marketing for 1Password’s solutions supporting developers, DevOps/DevSecOps, and teams building internal tools or automated agents.
Explain how developers—from senior engineers to non-traditional builders—use 1Password to securely build, deploy, and operate applications and automation.
Articulate how 1Password secures identities, secrets, services, and machine-to-system access across modern software delivery.
Position capabilities such as secrets management, service identity, agent provisioning, and infrastructure integrations as foundational to secure development.
Build demos, sample apps, and open-source modules that showcase 1Password developer workflows.
Partner with Product to understand use cases across DevOps, platform engineering, automation, and modern application development.
Drive Cross-Functional Strategy
Work with Product and Engineering to bring new features to market with strong, differentiated value for technical audiences.
Build go-to-market plans that resonate with developers, DevOps/DevSecOps teams and technical decision-makers.
Support Sales, Customer Success, and Enablement by connecting technical capabilities (e.g. identity, secrets, automation controls) to clear customer outcomes.
Craft Clear and Credible Narratives
Translate complex topics such as secrets management, machine identity, privileged access, automation governance, and agent-driven workflows into simple, compelling messaging.
Shape thought leadership around the two major customer challenges:
Discovering and securing developer-driven or shadow automation projects, including new agents and internal tools.
Enabling every developer to become a secure developer, regardless of experience level or tooling.
Represent 1Password’s perspective on secure development, automation, and emerging engineering practices while maintaining trust, safety, and usability.
Support Platform & Ecosystem Storytelling
Position APIs, SDKs, integrations, and ecosystem partnerships as essential components of a secure development and automation platform.
Ensure our capabilities map to real developers, DevOps, and similar use cases.
Contribute to the broader platform narrative as organizations expand automation, service-to-service interactions, and internal development.
Be a Strategic Voice Internally & Externally
Participate in developer communities, technical forums, and industry events to grow 1Password’s presence in the developer ecosystem.
Engage in analyst briefings, customer discussions, partner conversations, and events related to development security, automation, and emerging engineering practices.
Provide insight into how engineering, platform, and security teams adapt their workflows as internal development, automation, and agent-driven processes accelerate.
What we are looking for:
Experience and Expertise
8+ years of B2B SaaS product marketing experience, with 5+ years in developer tools, DevOps/DevSecOps, platform engineering, identity, or security categories.
Experience engaging with developer communities or contributing to developer evangelism programs.
Hands-on experience with developer-facing technologies (SDKs, APIs, CLIs, cloud-native tooling, open-source tools).
Strong track record marketing technically deep products, including:
identity and access management
secrets management
machine/service identity
CI/CD and automation tooling
cloud-native application architectures
DevOps/DevSecOps practices
Deep understanding of modern development workflows and how developers and platform teams adopt tools.
Background in creating thought leadership for new or rapidly evolving technical spaces.
Strategic & Tactical Strength
Ability to turn emerging technical trends into opinionated product positioning
Proven success launching complex, fast-evolving technical products.
Comfort navigating ambiguity and shaping category narratives.
Strong ability to synthesize insights across product, engineering, security, and customer teams.
Communication & Influence
Exceptional storytelling skills for both technical practitioners and executive audiences.
Confidence representing 1Password in cross-functional settings, analyst briefings, customer conversations, and industry events.
Ability to act as a credible, trusted voice within developer, DevOps and DevSecOps communities.
Why join us:
Shape how 1Password empowers organizations to secure modern software development—from local tooling to CI/CD pipelines to cloud-native workflows.
Lead narratives at the intersection of identity, secrets management, and secure automation, helping developers of all skill levels build faster without sacrificing safety.
Operate with director-level strategic influence while remaining a high-impact individual contributor driving clarity, direction, and product storytelling.
