Data is a crucial part of Whatnot’s mission to bring people together through commerce. As our newest Data Engineer, Finance, you will partner with engineering, finance, accounting, and product teams to design scalable solutions that turn payments data into high-leverage products. You will extend our data architecture, unlock critical new use-cases, and drive end-to-end initiatives that keep our revenue data accurate, timely, and traceable.
Own architecture & execution. Make foundational decisions about how we capture, model, and serve financial data—and then ship the code to make it real.
Build mission-critical pipelines. Maintain streaming and batch workflows that process transaction, settlement, refund, and chargeback events with tight SLOs for latency and accuracy.
Deliver finance-grade data products. Create canonical financial models that power seller statements, 1099/1099-K tax reporting, revenue recognition, and SEC/SOX compliance.
Raise the bar on data quality. Design tests, lineage, and monitoring so stakeholders can trust every penny and every query.
Automate reconciliations. Partner with Finance to reconcile ledgers across payment processors, banks, and the general ledger.
Unlock insights. Work with analytics, ML, and product teams to enable real-time dashboards, risk scoring models, and business metrics.
