Responsibilities
- Act as primary liaison between doctor and patient, building rapport and ensuring positive patient experience
- Perform preliminary clinical data collection (autorefraction, visual acuity, tonometry/eye pressure, pupil testing, ocular motility, retinal imaging, lensometry)
- Support in-person and video-assisted eye exam appointments and assist the doctor as needed
- Deliver contact lens insertion and removal training to new wearers and train team members on insertion/removal techniques as directed
- Manage patient flow through the exam process to maintain efficiency and appointment schedules
- Maintain accurate records of clinical data and assist in preparation of reports to other medical professionals
- Ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA/PIPEDA) and company procedures
- Prepare and maintain organized, sanitized exam rooms, replenish supplies, and perform equipment maintenance/calibration
- Support retail sales team and assist with appointment confirmations, annual exam outreach, and contact lens follow-ups
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an optometric technician training program or CPOT certification preferred
- Additional coursework or training in clinical or medical office procedures a plus
