Responsibilities
- Participate in a six-month immersive mentorship program with 3–4 hospital shifts per week (days, swings, nights).
- Collaborate with experienced VEG ER doctors and specialists during shifts and case discussions.
- Receive hands-on training in emergency surgery, endoscopy, and point-of-care ultrasound.
- Attend weekly didactic sessions, literature reviews, and earn 160+ RACE-approved CE hours.
- Provide customer-focused emergency care across small animals and exotics in an open-concept ER.
- Maintain certifications (e.g., RECOVER ALS/BLS) and complete program competencies/benchmarks.
- Work rotating nights, weekends, and holidays as required by hospital demands.
- Document patient care, communicate with clients, and coordinate with hospital teams.
Education
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) or equivalent
- Active state veterinary license in the state of program completion
- Valid DEA registration in that state by start date
