JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Interfaith Chaplain functions as a member of the Spiritual Care team in the Spiritual Care Department. In this role they are responsible for providing spiritual care to patients, families and staff in ways that respect and honor any faith and spiritual traditions they may have.
The Interfaith Chaplain provides interfaith spiritual care through pastoral visitation; ritual care when appropriate, including sacraments and prayer; leadership of interfaith worship and memorial services; bereavement care; crisis intervention; and staff support. They participate in interdisciplinary meetings and rounds that foster collaborative care in the organization.
EDUCATION:
Master's Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Divinity or Spirituality or its equivalent from an accredited Theological School, Seminary or Graduate School. At least four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education in ACPE accredited centers strongly preferred. Certification or work toward certification by APC, NACC, CASC or NAJC strongly preferred or equivalent experience. Ordination or commissioning from recognized religious/spiritual organization and endorsement for hospital chaplaincy from judicatory body of religious/spiritual organization.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years’ experience in hospital chaplaincy setting preferred. Experience in spiritual caregiving in congregational, campus, military, or long term care facilities, and hospice settings considered.
