Job Details:

PURPOSE

The Research Associate III independently designs and conducts complex research projects, analyzes and presents data, and supervises junior research staff.  The Research Associate III is responsible for developing research protocols, performing literature searches, preparing grant applications, and contributing to research publications. This position is located within the Department of Women's Health and is is a grant funded position with an end date of 02/1/2026, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct Research Experiments

  • Design and perform laboratory experiments independently.
  • Collect and analyze data using various scientific techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results.

Data Analysis

  • Analyze research data using statistical software and tools.
  • Submit project results to management by compiling data and preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Research and demonstrate new methods of data analysis.
  • Interpret results and prepare reports for review by senior researchers.
  • Assist with manuscripts and publications by drafting sections, reviewing content, and ensuring adherence to publication guidelines.

Protocol Development

  • Develop and optimize research protocols.
  • Review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) as needed.
  • Assist with IRB submission and management by preparing necessary documentation, coordinating with IRB representatives, and ensuring timely submission and approval.
  • Identify and resolve experimental errors to enhance and refine protocols.
  • Devise innovative solutions to experimental challenges, including the development and dissemination of new protocols for related work.

Laboratory Maintenance

  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure the laboratory is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures.
  • Evaluate laboratory procedures and conduct self-assessments, compiling detailed reports.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with other research staff to coordinate experiments and share findings.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide updates on research progress.
  • Communicate effectively with external collaborators and stakeholders.

Grant Writing and Management

  • Prepare grant applications, contracts, and related budget recommendations.
  • Manage operational, financial, and personnel functions of designated projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field such as Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry.
  • 5 years of relevant laboratory experience.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 7 years of relevant laboratory experience, including experience with specific techniques used in the research area.
  • Certification as a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or similar certification.

SALARY RANGE

$52,000 + depending on qualifications
