Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement: The Center for Transition & Career Innovation (CTCI) at the University of Maryland is recruiting qualified staff to work as an integral member of the Center. CTCI’s mission is to improve the lives of youth and adults with disabilities, including promoting full integration into all aspects of education, work, family, and community life. CTCI is housed within one of the nationally top-ranked Colleges of Education on the flagship campus of the University of Maryland system. Current CTCI projects include state and federally funded education, training, technical assistance and research contracts and grants that are designed to improve the academic,
employment and independent living outcomes of youth and adults with disabilities.

This position will support federally funded projects that assist states to implement evidence based practices leading to improved postschool outcomes for students and youth with disabilities. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, and in partnership with state partners, the position will design and implement targeted and intensive technical assistance activities. The position may also direct funded projects, lead teams to accomplish project goals, and work collaboratively with other CTCI staff as needed. In addition, there may be opportunities to contribute to generating contracts and grant funding for projects that are consistent with the mission and vision of CTCI.

Duties will include:
(a) Develop and deliver in-the-field technical assistance (TA) and training to address overarching systemic issues.
(b) Work directly with states to identify their needs to improve transition services.
(c) Assist partners with data collection and reporting in accordance with project evaluation requirements.
(d) Develop training materials and toolkits to support implementation models.
(e) Participate in planning and delivery of project meetings (virtual and in-person).
(f) Provide ongoing feedback to the project management team on progress and implementation challenges.
(g) Coordinate with department lead on fiscal and programmatic requirements.
(h) Serve on CTCI subcommittees to support center-wide initiatives.
(i) Identify funding opportunities and contribute to proposal development.
(j) Provide direct services, as required, to UMD students (e.g., mentoring, advising, or training).

Minimum Qualifications:
(a) Doctorate degree.
(b) Knowledge and experience with vocational rehabilitation processes.
(c) Experience supporting states to implement evidence-based practices to improve postschool outcomes.
(d) Understanding of organizational transformation and ability to navigate diverse organizational cultures.
(e) Willingness to learn about state-specific needs.
(f) Ability to cope with ambiguity (e.g., handle change, make decisions with incomplete information, navigate uncertainty).
(g) Strong teamwork skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, and consensus building.
(h) Ability to follow direction while also taking initiative to engage and network with community partners, including vocational rehabilitation.
(i) Availability and flexibility for overnight travel, based on project needs.
