Job Summary

The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine's Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a Research Technologist, whose primary activity will be providing basic technical research support under the direction of the principle investigator. The appointee will assist with radioiodination of proteins, nucleotides, purification of compounds, radioautography, gel electrophoresis. Additionally, the appointee will assist with analysis of results.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic technical support activities to scientific research projects.

  • Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates.

  • Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.

  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.

  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.


Experience:

  • Previous research experience.

  • Knowledge in relevant scientific field(s).

  • Knowledge and experience of research techniques or methods including radioiodination of proteins and nucleotides, radioautography and gel elecrophoresis.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office or other basic productivity.
