About the Company:

World is a network of real humans, built on privacy-preserving proof-of-human technology, and powered by a globally inclusive financial network that enables the free flow of digital assets for all. It is built to connect, empower, and be owned by everyone.

About the Team and the Role:

The Devices team at Tools for Humanity is responsible for driving and coordinating all aspects of new product introduction - from concept prototypes all the way to mass production. As a Supplier Industrialization Engineer, you’ll work on one of the most ambitious products of our time, and will partner with industry leading peers in economics, on-device machine learning, novel cryptographic research and hardware design.

You will play a critical role in scaling our supply chain from prototype to high-volume, global production together with our partners. You’ll serve as a technical bridge between design engineering, GSM and our suppliers - equal parts leading DFM/DFA best practices and driving quality assurance, tooling development and manufacturing line bring-up. This is a new team with an opportunity to build the strategic technical and quality partnership foundation with our suppliers and the methodology of designing for efficient, high-yield and scalable processes.

Our company moves fast and we will look to you to learn quickly, build strong relationships both internally and externally and make thoughtful decisions with conviction and efficiency. This high-impact and high-autonomy role is foundational to ensuring our hardware products reach billions of people globally. Our compensation is competitive and this is an opportunity to build together with a driven and collaborative team.

As a Supplier Industrialization Engineer with Tools for Humanity, you will:

  • Play a critical role in strategic supplier selection and development alongside our contract manufacturers. When needed, audit, qualify and bring onboard global suppliers for electromechanical and optical assemblies

  • Evaluate supplier capability to support automation, tight tolerance control, cosmetic requirements and consistent quality in both prototyping and full-rate production, then execute on the supplier ramp strategy

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define supplier selection and development success criteria to achieve design, quality, yield, throughput and cost goals

  • Partner closely with the GSM team on manufacturing cost modeling, evaluation and negotiation by conducting bottoms-up cost analysis, cycle time studies and optimization

  • Own quality systems standards, evaluation and improvement with suppliers

  • Lead development and review of pFMEA, SPC and process control documentation with suppliers, tailored to each commodity type. Own yield targets and improvement

  • Propose, review and participate in conducting Design of Experiments (DOE) and Gage R&R studies with the internal and supplier engineering teams to validate process capability for key critical assemblies

  • Analyze manufacturing trends, monitor yield performance, and drive defect reduction using root cause and corrective action processes

  • Partner with engineering and our contract manufacturers to apply DFM/DFA early in design with an eye toward scalable process and strict cosmetic requirements

  • Work closely with our operations teams to gather and analyze data to root cause and implement supplier solutions to field issues

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement robust End-of-Line (EOL) testing strategies

  • Conduct automation strategy reviews and manufacturing line bring-up with our contract manufacturers and suppliers

About You:

  • 7+ years of experience in Supplier Industrialization, Supplier Quality, or Manufacturing Engineering for electromechanical and optical assemblies in consumer electronics or other precision, complex and high-throughput industries. Experience in camera module and/or image sensor manufacturing is a plus

  • A Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in a technical field (e.g., mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering) is preferred, but equivalent practical experience will also be considered

  • You have successfully taken many products from concept to mass production and have hands-on experience with prototype, NPI ramp and high-volume manufacturing across various commodities. You can thoughtfully balance requirements along the stages of the product development cycle (Proto, EVT, DVT, PVT, MP)

  • You have strong understanding of fixture design, tooling development, and DFM

  • Proficiency in GD&T and 3D CAD tools

  • Experience with EOL testing and in-process inspection systems. Experience with active alignment and camera module EOL/calibration is a plus

  • You have a data-first mindset—confident using statistical tools (JMP, Minitab, Python) to drive root cause and quality tracking

  • You believe in strong, strategic relationships with our suppliers, rooted in trust and mutual respect

  • You are well versed in cross-functional communication, able to effectively lead conversations across engineering, operations, and external supplier teams

  • You are able to roll up your sleeves, solve tactical challenges fast and ensure daily supply meets demand and quality standards, while keeping the broad product strategy at the forefront

  • Fluency in English is a must. Mandarin or German language skills are a plus

This role will require travel to our suppliers globally up to 30-50% of the time
