Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan, nonadvocacy fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world. It does not take policy positions. The Center conducts public opinion polling, demographic research, computational social science research and other data-driven research. It studies politics and policy; news habits and media; the internet and technology; religion; race and ethnicity; international affairs; social, demographic and economic trends; science; research methodology and data science; and immigration and migration. Pew Research Center is a subsidiary of The Pew Charitable Trusts, its primary funder. The Center’s work is carried out by a staff of 180.
Position Description
The assistant digital producer will be a part of the Center’s multi-platform digital publishing team. The primary focus of this position will be to update and optimize the Center’s archive of existing content on pewresearch.org. This position reports to the digital production manager.
This is a term-limited, grant-funded position expected to extend 18 months.
Primary Responsibilities
Reviewing and updating legacy content for accuracy and usability
Updating legacy chart images with data tables
Tagging legacy articles and features with metadata
General QA, troubleshooting, and testing
Archival research
Documenting processes and tracking work completed
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Familiarity with WordPress publishing platform; experience with Gutenberg editor is a plus
Critical thinking and attention to detail
Time management and the ability to work independently
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education/Training/Experience
Bachelor’s degree.
1-3 years professional experience or equivalent in a digital publishing environment
Experience with Asana is a plus
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: The typical starting salary for this position is $60,000 annually.
Hybrid Work Schedule: Pew Research Center staff are required to be present in the Center’s Washington, D.C., office three core days weekly (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Staff may work virtually from remote locations on other days in a typical work week.
