About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer to join our Data Center Architecture & Deployment Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring successful, high-quality data center deployments, with a strong focus on Layer 1 and Layer 2 network infrastructure and structured cabling systems.
You will be the on-site technical authority for network cabling deployment, ensuring contractors and Data Center technicians execute the approved cabling plan to spec, verifying all work through active checks, and addressing any deficiencies prior to production handoff.
Key Responsibilities:
Deployment Oversight & Quality Assurance
Lead and oversee the installation of structured cabling in new data center builds.
Verify that all work aligns with the approved network architecture and cabling diagrams.
Perform active audits on patching, labeling, fiber/copper termination, and cable routing.
Coordinate and provide remediation for any deviations or deficiencies during deployment.
Training & Knowledge Transfer:
Deliver hands-on training to Data Center technicians for ongoing cable plant operations.
Develop and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and cabling standards.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
Partner with the Data Center Architecture team to provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements.
Participate in L1/L2 network design validation and deployment readiness checks.
Qualifications:
Hands-on experience deploying data center cabling infrastructure, with references and tangible examples of past projects.
Strong knowledge of Layer 1 & Layer 2 networking (Ethernet, VLANs, trunking, spanning tree, etc.).
Deep understanding of structured cabling systems, including fiber and copper media, patching standards, and cable plant management.
Proven ability to read, interpret, and execute network architecture diagrams and cabling schematics.
Willingness to travel 75% globally for multi-site deployments.
Preferred:
BICSI Installer Certification (Installer 1, Installer 2 Copper/Fiber, or Technician).
CCNA or similar networking certification.
Familiarity with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
Experience working with third-party contractors and vendor teams.
Work Environment & Travel:
Base location: Las Vegas, NV or Phoenix, AZ.
Travel up to 75% globally to data center deployment sites.
On-site work required during deployments, with occasional remote planning work.
