What we want

The Counseling and Assessment Clinic (CAC) is a psychological services clinic associated with the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University. The CAC is seeking a Psychologist III to join our team and make a meaningful impact through the provision of individual, group, couples, and family therapy, as well as consultation-liaison services/skills training (parent training, social skills training, behavior coaching), and comprehensive psychological evaluations. Under general supervision, this role will provide in-person services to residents of the Brazos Valley and will also have the opportunity to interact with and mentor doctoral students in the Counseling and School Psychology programs at Texas A&M.

This is an opportunity for temporary/casual work with the potential for a flexible work schedule.  This role provides an opportunity to accrue the supervised postdoctoral experience required for licensures, stay at the forefront of your professional field, and contribute to advances in the mental health field by coming to work at the CAC. Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or School Psychology, or other degree acceptable to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

  • Five (5) years postdoctoral clinical experience in a relevant setting.

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensure in the state of Texas as a Psychologist

Preferred Qualifications

  • APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of office software and scoring programs.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Clinical Services

  • Provide psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and groups.

  • Complete psychological evaluations for individuals that address a variety of reasons for referral

Administrative Needs

  • Maintain and provide evidence when requested of professional liability insurance

  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities per state licensure requirements

  • Meet ethical obligations for timely documentation of services per State of Texas licensure requirements and CAC policies

  • Engage in therapy and evaluation related activities including administering and interpreting psychological tests/inventories

Plans and Implements Strategies to Attract and Retain Clients

  • Assist with attracting and retaining potential clients.

  • Exhibit empathy, compassion, and the ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships

Financial Preparation and Management

  • Determine fee for services provided

  • Ensure clients submit payments at time of service/scheduled appointment

Supervision and Consultation

  • Provide adjunct supervision to doctoral level students in the Counseling and School Psychology programs

  • Provide consultation to faculty and staff

  • Seek consultation from peers for difficult clinical cases per State of Texas licensure requirements
