Art Director

ART DIRECTOR 1, 2, 3

We’re Stoltz Marketing Group, a globally recognized agency in Boise, Idaho. Stoltz is a marketing agency that offers a rare combination of data, insights and emotional intelligence to make impactful work for hardworking brands. There aren’t many agencies like us, literally: We’re one of less than 1% of US agencies that are woman owned. But that’s just one of many reasons we stand out from the rest. And our work speaks for itself: We create future-proof brands and bold campaigns that don’t miss.

About the Position

As an Art Director, you bring our clients’ brands to life through strategic design and creative execution. Working closely with our team, you’ll develop marketing initiatives, craft compelling visuals, and contribute to concept development and production. This role is based in Boise and reports to the Executive Creative Director.

Stoltz Values and Norms

We believe in Initiative, Passion, and Versatility. Beyond skills and tactics, we look for team members who show up fully, respect others, and bring fresh ideas to the table.

Art Director 1 Responsibilities

  • Design across branding, print, digital, web, social, and email platforms.
  • Collaborate with copywriters, art directors, and senior team members to execute concepts that push creative boundaries.
  • Participate in brainstorming, campaign development, and client presentations.
  • Create inspiration boards and contribute to early design explorations.
  • Contribute to digital projects in Figma, including wireframes and UI design.
  • Attend press checks and assist with quality control.
  • Maintain deadlines and communicate progress clearly.

Art Director 2 Responsibilities (Includes all AD1 responsibilities, plus...)

  • Develop campaign assets and design systems with minimal oversight.
  • Build developer-ready Figma files and contribute to user flows.
  • Execute integrated design work efficiently across multiple platforms.
  • Manage quality control and vendor communications during production.
  • Collaborate with copywriters, art directors, and senior team members to develop concepts that push creative boundaries.
  • Confidently present work to internal teams and clients.
  • Meet or exceed the creative director’s expectations for quality and consistency.

Art Director 3 Responsibilities (Includes all AD2 responsibilities, plus...)

  • Lead cross-platform campaign execution with little oversight.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of agency processes and client industries.
  • Design UX systems, including user flows and scalable frameworks.
  • Oversee quality control of production and printing, including vendor and press coordination.
  • Grow skills in mentoring and delegation through team collaboration.
  • Pursue ongoing education in a specialty (e.g., animation, photography, experiential) and share learnings with the team.
  • General understanding of agency business and project financials.

Note: Responsibilities may evolve based on team and company needs.

Salary Ranges (2025)

Art Director 1  $55,000 - $65,000

Art Director 2 $60,000 - $70,000

Art Director 3 $65,000 - $75,000

Note: Career pathing and timing of advancement is dependent upon many factors including but not limited to tenure, equity among team members, skillset development, organizational needs, productivity, reliability, superlative communication, advancing Stoltz values and norms through leadership, company financials, etc.

You’d be a great fit if

  • You have a degree in design, marketing, or a related field—or 3-5 years of experience.
  • You thrive on collaboration and believe in true client partnerships.
  • You’re confident, communicative, and open to feedback.
  • You’re fluent in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • You love learning, problem-solving, and staying ahead of design trends.
  • You juggle multiple projects with ease and stay cool under pressure.
  • You’re truly passionate about marketing.

This might NOT be for you if

  • You prefer rigid job structures over wearing multiple hats.
  • The word “sales” makes you cringe.
  • Managing multiple clients/projects at once overwhelms you.
  • You need heavy oversight—our team values independence.
  • You don’t enjoy collaboration, feedback, or a fast-paced environment.

This Matters Most

Our talent lies in our skills and capabilities, and importantly, in our cognitive and overall diversity. The only “archetype” you’ll find at Stoltz is a caring and creative employee. Our team represents a wide range of professional and lived experiences.
