Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Neuroblastoma Epigenetics and Therapeutics
The Yang Lab in Department of Surgery at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our translational research team focused on understanding and targeting epigenetic mechanisms in high-risk neuroblastoma. Our NIH-funded R01 project investigates how MYC oncoproteins and core transcriptional regulatory circuits (CRC) cooperate to drive neuroblastoma and how epigenetic modulators regulate tumor cell identity, plasticity, and therapeutic resistance. This work is highly translational, leveraging cutting-edge genetic, epigenomic, and pharmacologic tools in patient-derived xenografts and genetically engineered mouse models to inform future clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
Design and conduct experiments investigating the role of MYCN/c-MYC and epigenetic regulators in regulating CRC-driven gene expression in neuroblastoma.
Utilize molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques including CRISPR, RNA-seq, CUT&RUN, ATAC-seq, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, and 3D tumor modeling.
Analyze how epigenetic modulation alters MYC-CRC interactions, chromatin states, and cell state transitions.
Evaluate preclinical efficacy of small molecule inhibitors in combination with standard therapies.
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team including cancer biologists and clinicians.
Present findings at national and international meetings and contribute to manuscript preparation and grant proposals.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. (or nearing completion) in molecular biology, cancer biology, biochemistry, developmental biology, immunology, or related fields.
Strong background in epigenetics, transcriptional regulation, or chromatin biology is highly desirable.
Experience with mouse models, genome editing, or next-generation sequencing is a plus.
Excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and a collaborative mindset.
A strong publication record demonstrating scientific rigor and productivity.
