Skills
- Expert administration of Linux servers (physical and virtual).
- Proficiency in shell scripting (bash) and experience with Python or similar languages.
- Experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Puppet, etc.).
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with web and open-source services (NGINX, Apache, HAProxy, BIND, mail servers).
- Centralized logging and monitoring experience (ELK or similar).
- Source control proficiency (Git, Subversion).
- Networking fundamentals: IPv4, routing, switching, firewalls, HA architectures.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, manage, and support Linux-based and open-source platforms in physical and virtualized environments.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable, resilient system architectures.
- Develop automation and scripting to improve repeatability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Define and document standards, best practices, and change control for system deployments.
- Perform troubleshooting, performance tuning, monitoring, and metrics collection for critical systems.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for mission-critical services.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to existing systems and toolchains.
- Work within cross-functional teams to resolve issues and deliver timely solutions.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, physics, or information systems and 3+ years systems engineering experience
- OR 5+ years of systems engineering experience in lieu of a degree
