Job Overview

Schedule: Part-Time Day Shift- 0.5 FTE

Shift: 8:00am-4:30pm (2 days) and 9:00am-1:00pm (1 day)

Shriners Children's Chicago has an opportunity for a Part-time Dental Technician. The Dental Technician is responsible for assisting the dental and surgical specialist of the Cleft/Craniofacial Team. This position supports dental OR/surgical procedures; performed by the cleft surgeons and appropriate outpatient dental procedures and radiographs for patients presenting with cleft and congenital and acquired craniomaxillofacial differences.

The pay range for this position is $21.24/hour - $26.56/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities

• Takes cephalometric, panoramic and occlusal radiographs for patients presenting to the clinics of the Plastic Surgery department.
• Assists the pediatric dentist, orthodontist and prosthodontist in the operating room and outpatient clinic.
• Maintains correspondence with community orthodontists, dentists and prosthodontists.
• Takes dental impressions of patients presenting for surgical treatment planning.
• Pours and trims dental models and fabricates splints for patients presenting for surgical treatment planning.
• Assists in making surgical appliances in the Dental Lab.
• Manages the dental radiographic files and dental study models of the patients of the Plastic Surgery Service.
• Maintains stock in the Dental Lab and X-ray supply area.
• Reports malfunctions of the dental radiographic and processing equipment.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma/GED 

Preferred:

• Associates Degree
• 5 Years Related Work Experience
• Certificate in Dental Assisting
