At Shriners Children's St. Louis, we have a team of physicians and specialists who are highly trained and experienced in pediatric orthopedics. This team is equipped to treat children with a variety of different orthopedic conditions ranging from mild to complex. Other specialties you will find at our facility include limb lengthening and reconstruction, spine care, muscular and neuromuscular care, orthotics and prosthetics and plastic surgery.

Responsibilities
- The Child Life Specialist is responsible for working with children, from infancy through adolescence, in a family centered care environment.
- This position provides services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Position requires strong skills in child development, assessment and planning, psychosocial support, procedural support and preparation, group leadership, volunteer supervision and goal directed play.
This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field
- Certified Child Life Specialist, or be eligible to sit for the certification exam
Preferred:
- One year’s experience in a hospital child life program
