Jr. Data Engineer
Skills
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., Postgres)
- Proficiency coding in Python or Java/Scala; familiarity with pandas, NumPy, or Scrapy
- Familiarity with Apache Spark or strong interest to learn distributed data processing
- Understanding of object-oriented programming and collaborative version control workflows
- Ability to work cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts, and engineers
Responsibilities
- Write and deploy web crawling scripts to collect source data
- Develop and run Scala Spark transformers to standardize bulk datasets
- Implement Python modules to parse entities and relationships from source data
- Diagnose and fix bugs reported by internal and external users
- Analyze internal datasets to inform product and feature work
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and analysts using agile practices
- Participate in code reviews and give/receive technical feedback
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
