- Design trade studies and mass optimization
- Spacecraft-level structural test campaign design, execution, and data processing
- Ability to translate test data into validated environmental inputs and margin assessments
Responsibilities
- Define, process, and interpret static and dynamic ground test and flight data (sensor selection, acquisition, validation, environmental determination).
- Perform, validate, and document structural analyses of primary and secondary vehicle structures, including FEA model V&V, material selection, trade studies, and mass optimization.
- Conduct structural and dynamic simulations: static, modal, random vibration, buckling, and thermoelastic analyses.
- Work with design and test engineers to iterate design concepts, define test requirements, and demonstrate structural margins.
- Define test requirements and support hands-on testing of subsystems and components.
- Lead technical projects and introduce new tools, methods, and best practices within the team.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline (required)
- Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (preferred)
