Senior Vehicle Integration Engineer

Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company advancing launch and spacecraft capabilities; the Neutron Vehicle Integration team is building a reusable medium‑lift launch vehicle. We are seeking a Senior Vehicle Integration Engineer to develop integration processes, ground support tooling, procedures, and facility capabilities to enable safe, efficient assembly, testing, and launch of Neutron vehicle hardware.

Skills

  • Proven experience authoring detailed work instructions and test procedures for hardware assembly and launch operations.
  • Strong background in assembly, test, and integration of launch vehicle hardware and subsystems.
  • Ability to interface with mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems and translate requirements into processing flows.
  • Hands-on experience designing or specifying ground support equipment and tooling.
  • Familiarity with system-level checkout procedures and flight hardware acceptance testing.
  • Good technical writing, documentation, and configuration control practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts of operations and design, build, and validate ground support tooling for handling Neutron components and integrated stages.
  • Author and execute assembly, inspection, repair/retrofit, and system test procedures for flight hardware and ground support equipment.
  • Support daily execution of stage integration activities including propellant systems, avionics, AFTS, and structures.
  • Design vehicle maintenance architecture, build flows, and test operations to maximize processing efficiency.
  • Develop and perform system-level vehicle checkouts for initial and flown vehicles and components.
  • Document non-conformances and convert findings into actionable improvements and system updates.
  • Maintain integrated planning documents reflecting configurations, scope, and launch readiness tasks.
  • Design, build, and maintain processing facilities and custom tools/hardware needed for vehicle processing.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and technical staff to manage priorities and meet project milestones.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering (required)
  • Master of Science in relevant engineering field (preferred)
