Skills
- Mechanical design and tooling design experience
- Large-structure handling design (crane lifts, transport, alignment)
- Technical project management in manufacturing or prototype shop environments
- Fabrication methods, vendor sourcing and shop floor coordination
- Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, procure, and implement GSE and production tooling from simple fixtures to vehicle-level test stands
- Own manufacturing, scheduling, and sourcing of critical production tools
- Coordinate with N/C programmers, welders, machinists, shop personnel and external suppliers for timely execution
- Source, evaluate and advise vendors on technical requirements and fabrication methods
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and designers to improve design for manufacturability
- Develop tooling standards, fabrication methods and sourcing strategies for the tooling organization
- Lead fabrication and qualification of tooling aids, supporting equipment, and specialized hardware
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering or related engineering discipline
