Staff Operations Engineer, Industrial Engineering

Relativity Space is building Terran R rockets and the factories that produce them. The Factory Engineering team owns how work flows through production — from layout and material flow to scheduling, ergonomics, automation interfaces, and operational analytics. We’re seeking a Staff Operations Engineer (Industrial Engineering) to lead cross-functional initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and scalability using data, simulations, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Skills

  • Capacity planning and factory/warehouse optimization experience
  • Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving (A3, 8D, RCA)
  • Data analysis skills using Excel and SQL; experience with data visualization tools (Tableau or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D design tools and discrete-event simulation software (e.g., FlexSim)
  • Strong communication, leadership, and change management skills to influence cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Identify, analyze, and drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, logistics, and ergonomics using data, simulation, and Lean/Six Sigma methods
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to design and implement operational standards, capacity plans, factory/warehouse layouts, and material flow strategies
  • Develop and maintain operational metrics, dashboards, and audit tools to monitor and improve manufacturing and distribution performance
  • Create standard operating procedures and workflow designs that enhance workforce efficiency while ensuring safety and ergonomic compliance
  • Recommend and execute system and process enhancements, including automation and data integrity improvements to support scalable operations

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, or related field
