Senior Manager, Additive Manufacturing Engineering

Relativity Space is pioneering additive manufacturing for rocket propulsion hardware, driving innovation in orbital launch technology. They seek a Senior Manager to lead and scale their additive manufacturing engineering team, ensuring high-quality production and technical excellence from R&D to manufacturing scale-up.

Skills

  • Expertise in metallic additive manufacturing processes such as LPBF, DED, and CSAM.
  • Strong knowledge of metallic material systems including Inconel, titanium, and aluminum alloys.
  • Experience working with MES, QMS, ERP systems, and additive-specific tools like EOSPRINT and Materialise.
  • Proven ability to implement automation and real-time performance tracking dashboards.
  • Leadership skills to scale manufacturing operations under AS9100 quality standards.
  • Strategic planning and resource allocation skills across diverse technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and expand cross-functional additive manufacturing teams including process engineers, product owners, and technicians.
  • Manage and optimize additive manufacturing processes for propulsion-critical hardware, ensuring throughput, yield, and schedule adherence.
  • Drive performance metrics including work order execution, pass yield, cycle time, and on-time delivery.
  • Implement KPIs and lean principles for post-processing, printer uptime, and technician efficiency.
  • Collaborate with design, materials, quality, supply chain, and operations for alignment across the additive manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Own the technical roadmap for scaling additive manufacturing including process qualification, material validation, and quality systems.
  • Manage factory floor configuration and capacity scaling for additive manufacturing cells.
  • Oversee technical partnerships with vendors and guide next-generation AM equipment and materials strategies.
  • Serve as an additive manufacturing subject matter expert at program and executive levels.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering and technician teams, building succession plans.
  • Promote a strong safety culture aligned with AS9100 and internal quality standards.

Education

  • Preferred advanced degree or equivalent experience in engineering or related technical field.
