Are we headed for a full blown job market meltdown?

maybe I’m doomscrolling too much but it feels bad out here. layoffs, no callbacks, people underemployed for months. is this a slow crash or are we about to see a big collapse soon? trying to figure out if this is just vibes or actual trouble.

Every time layoffs hit, we get flooded with more talent and fewer jobs. That imbalance’s been growing for a while. idk how it gets fixed without major change

I work in recruiting and can confirm: hiring is frozen in a LOT of places. even when roles open, it takes forever to get approvals. it’s all fear-based right now

it’s already a meltdown for some of us. been 9 months with no job and the market is quieter now than when I started. this feels like 2008 but in slow motion 😬
