The BHEI team positions Planned Parenthood to improve the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) health outcomes of Black women, girls, trans and nonbinary communities.
Purpose:
The Associate Director, BHE is a key strategic partner in advancing PPFA’s mission to adapt BHE across the federation. This role combines systems-level thinking with an operations-driven, execution-focused approach to sustain and scale the full BHEI portfolio, implementing programs across participating Planned Parenthood affiliates to improve health outcomes of Black communities. Engagement:
With expertise in programmatic experience, this leader will bring facilitation skills and persuasive leadership to guide cross-functional planning, surface solutions, and support collective decision-making. By anticipating shifts in affiliate and stakeholder needs, and tailoring approaches to organizational capacities, resources, and technological conditions, the Associate Director ensures BHEI initiatives remain responsive, sustainable, and impactful. This individual will:
• Establish the BHEI as a trusted systems-level partner by demonstrating operational excellence and modeling what scalable, equitable infrastructure looks like across the federation.

• Drive adaptation of BHEI’s project cycle by leading collaborative networks, advancing equity-focused learning and action initiatives, building communities of practice, and managing digital platforms that strengthen knowledge sharing.
• Anticipate affiliate and stakeholder needs, and adapt systems and timelines to ensure responsiveness, sustainability, and measurable impact.
• Act as a trusted partner in leading federation-wide priorities by coordinating across teams, troubleshooting challenges, and maintaining clarity and momentum so leadership can focus on vision, external positioning, and long-term strategy.
• Facilitate and lead a collaborative platform to test and scale new affiliate-submitted BHE interventions. Guide affiliates in piloting new approaches aligned with clinical focus areas, leveraging BHEI cohort leads as subject matter experts to provide technical assistance, strengthen intervention design, and build affiliate capacity.
• Oversee the implementation of highlighting existing affiliate-driven equity-centered interventions by providing funding support, guiding affiliates in strengthening strategies, showcasing innovations, expanding participation, and scaling models that build trust, foster collaboration, and advance BHE across the Federation.
• Launch a central hub for knowledge sharing, capturing Planned Parenthood affiliate case studies and best practices, while curating exclusive content, facilitating affiliate engagement, and capturing implementation learnings to scale innovation and impact across the federation.
• Other duties as assigned.
