About Us:
At ResiQuant, we're tackling one of the biggest challenges in disaster resilience: the lack of accurate, standardized, and dynamic property data. In a world increasingly impacted by climate change and natural disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, and wildfires, decisions about risk are often made with incomplete or incorrect information.
Our mission is to empower insurers, financial institutions, and asset managers with AI systems fused with structural engineering expertise. These systems bridge critical data gaps to deliver precise, actionable building insights for better decision-making.
Founded by Stanford PhDs, we are committed to leveraging cutting-edge AI to protect communities and businesses from disaster impacts. At ResiQuant, we're building a future where every organization has access to world-class property risk intelligence to drive resilience and safeguard what matters most.
About You:
You will architect and own the core backend systems that power AI-driven property risk intelligence at enterprise scale. Working shoulder-to-shoulder with a high-caliber engineering team, you’ll take charge of critical platform components — from APIs and data pipelines to model-integrated services — ensuring our AI systems deliver reliable, real-time insights that insurers can trust in high-stakes underwriting decisions. As an early team member, you’ll collaborate closely with the founders to shape not only the technical foundation of the platform, but also how cutting-edge AI is applied safely and effectively in the insurance industry. You’ll earn meaningful equity and play a defining role in a venture that’s transforming how risk is understood and managed.
You will get to:
Own entire backend features from conception to production deployment
Build in a fast-paced AI company handling enterprise-scale data
Architect customer integrations for large insurance companies
Work directly with founders on product strategy and technical decisions
Shape the platform that will redefine how an entire industry manages disaster risk
You are a builder who wakes up thinking about growth, stay hungry for the next challenge, and see every obstacle as fuel for their relentless drive to create something bigger.
You're analytically minded and AI-first in your development approach. You excel at abstracting complex problems and finding elegant solutions. You're already using AI coding tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex to accelerate your development, and you see AI as a multiplier for building enterprise-quality interfaces at startup speed.
Key Responsibilities
Platform architecture: Co-design and build scalable backend services supporting a growing base of enterprise customers.
AI-powered features: Build and optimize AI-assisted backend capabilities from API design through production deployment. Create maintainable interfaces to evaluate and improve models and retrieval-based features, with strong monitoring for quality, latency, and reliability.
Data engineering: Develop robust pipelines that ingest, validate, and transform large property and risk datasets for downstream applications.
Product development: Collaborate closely with founders and customers to iterate quickly on features and deliver measurable impact.
Operational excellence: Add comprehensive observability, safety checks, and performance improvements to deliver enterprise-grade applications.
Qualifications:
You're driven by ownership, comfortable with ambiguity, and energized by building a category-defining product. You see this as a transformative career opportunity, not just a job.
0-5 years. Sweet spot: 1-3 years. Open to exceptional new grads with strong academic projects or internships. Prioritizing hunger and growth mindset over extensive experience.
Computer Science degree
Experience shipping AI-assisted or data-intensive services (e.g., integrating model APIs or retrieval-backed features) and measuring their quality and performance.
AI tool proficiency - experienced using modern AI tools for automation, prototyping, and productivity
Tech stack: Python, AWS/GCP, CI/CD pipelines.
Full commitment to in-person work - willing to be on-site in San Francisco 5 days/week for rapid collaboration with the team and work long hours.
Startup intensity and ownership mentality - work is your #1 priority, comfortable with fast-paced, high-stakes environment

Design/evolve PostgreSQL schemas; write safe migrations with rollout/rollback plans.
Add and maintain observability (logs/metrics/traces), dashboards, alerts, and service SLOs.
Improve performance & reliability (query tuning, indexing, caching/Redis, connection pooling; retries/backoff, DLQs, replay/backfills) and keep runbooks current.
Evolve CI/CD (GitHub Actions); ship small, frequent deployments behind flags.
Maintain code quality with tests, PR reviews, concise docs/ADRs; pair when useful.
Build backend APIs for AI-powered features
Respond to customer requests and demo preparation with same-day interface updates
Debug production issues affecting enterprise customer implementations
