Director, Scientific Communications

Nuvalent is an early-stage oncology-focused biotech leveraging deep chemistry expertise to design selective cancer medicines. The Director, Scientific Communications will lead publication and data dissemination strategy across asset lifecycles, partnering closely with Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Medical Affairs, Brand teams and external vendors to drive high-quality abstracts, manuscripts, congress presentations and broader medical communication plans.

Skills

  • Oncology therapeutic area expertise (lung cancer preferred)
  • GPP and ICMJE knowledge
  • Vendor and stakeholder management
  • Project management with strong attention to timelines and detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Experience with publication management platforms (e.g., Datavision)

Responsibilities

  • Lead asset publication and communications strategy, planning, and execution
  • Co-lead Publication Planning Committee; set agendas, document minutes, and manage action items
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Medical Affairs, Evidence Generation, and Brand teams to prioritize publication concepts
  • Oversee development and approval of abstracts, congress presentations, manuscripts, reviews, and publication extenders
  • Critically review drafts, adjudicate comments, and ensure scientific accuracy and consistency
  • Drive development/updates of scientific platform and lexicon to ensure consistency across medical materials
  • Manage publication management platform (e.g., Datavision) and medical communications vendors
  • Support portfolio-wide publications and data dissemination across medical education and congress activities
  • Serve as subject-matter expert on disease state, competitive landscape, and publication benchmarks

Education

  • Advanced degree required (PhD, PharmD, MD/DO, NP, PA-C or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated scientific/medical writing or communications training preferred
