We are looking for you to join our team as an Industrial Engineer based out of Sunnyvale, CA.

You will be joining an energetic Industrial Engineering team as an Industrial Engineer supporting a low volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. Your role will include interaction with cross-functional teams and leaders in a manufacturing production and operational management environment supporting mission critical hardware for the US Navy.

You will see a variety of assignments which include maintaining accuracy of time standards for operations and order duration, efficiencies, tools and methods for cost and schedule performance and forecasting, as well as work cell and equipment capacity information. Analyze and design sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies in production facilities and equipment layouts. Establish methods for maximum utilization of production facilities, machinery, and personnel. Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. On the basis of these studies, develop and implement plans and programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods. Additional opportunities may include establishing accident prevention measures, support of training programs for personnel in all phases of production, assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of facility layouts, and performing data analysis to aid investment justifications and improvement sustainment metrics tracking.


You will bring about inspiring changes through work sequence scheduling, shop floor performance tracking, process improvement and safety initiatives, work cell layout, capital equipment justification, data analysis and training.

Your passion for continuous improvement and initiative towards technical growth within the Industrial Engineering field will fuel Manufacturing Operations organization. You will establish yourself as a team player and leader through excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills while driving our deliverables. You must enjoy an analytical challenge and effectively transfer your ideas to others throughout the organization. You will work under general supervision and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity, as assigned. You prioritize daily to bring to life imaginative, thorough, and practicable approaches to our product lines and our essential throughput, quality, and safety requirements.

What you will get to do:

  • Develop and maintain labor standards for material routings
  • Develop shop operating plans and metrics to drive cost and schedule performance
  • Define headcount/staffing requirements as related to production rates
  • Perform long-term capacity analysis
  • Maintain, model, and update production floor layouts
  • Perform data analysis to aid in return on investment (ROI) and improvement sustainment calculations
  • Construct manufacturing process flow simulation models and analyze processes and their behaviors in hypothetical what-if scenarios
  • Troubleshoot business logic and processes for MRP / ERP systems
  • Identify operations management issues and suggest solutions
  • Identify and automate systems to provide data to key decision makers (i.e. dashboards, etc.)

Basic Qualifications for the Industrial Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related engineering or manufacturing role, (OR a Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 0+ years of relevant work experience.)
  • The ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance
  • US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications for the Industrial Engineer:

  • Working experience performing transactions within an integrated ERP system
  • Experience with elements of lead time planning for production parts
  • Experience with manufacturing routings
  • SQL query development and VBA experience
  • Tableau and Power BI experience generating reports and publishing for review
  • Excellent Excel experience including vlookup, pivot tables, and chart development.
  • Experience with Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Experience with labor time standards
  • Experience with materials requirement planning (MRP) principles

Primary Level Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
