Prototyping Lab Engineer & Manager

Neuralink is developing implantable brain–machine interface devices to restore function and transform human-computer interaction. The Prototyping Lab Engineer & Manager will create, operate, and optimize lab spaces and fabrication capabilities that empower engineering and manufacturing teams to rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on medical-device hardware.

Skills

  • Hands-on prototyping and fabrication experience (additive and subtractive)
  • Familiarity with R&D lab equipment and lab operations
  • Equipment operation and basic maintenance skills
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Design, organize, and optimize lab spaces and workflows in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of tools, equipment, chemicals, and consumables and implement inventory control systems.
  • Provide hands-on prototyping support: build prototypes, set up test stations, and run experiments.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of prototyping equipment (3D printers, CNCs, laser cutters, hand and power tools).
  • Implement and enforce lab safety, cleanliness, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Train lab users on equipment, procedures, and organizational systems.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines and production schedules.
  • Continuously improve lab capabilities by evaluating and integrating new technologies and processes.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical certificate, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in engineering/technical field preferred
  • Relevant vocational training or hands-on lab experience accepted in lieu of formal degree
