The Department of Public Health Sciences at The Medical University of South Carolina is looking to add a program assistant to assist with conducting nicotine and tobacco treatment research studies. Incumbent will be responsible for research study duties under general direction of the principal investigator. The candidate will be responsible for conducting research activities, such as screening patients for study eligibility, conducting consent procedures and all study sessions with participants following established protocols, preparing and entering data for questionnaires, processing study compensation, compiling and managing all study related participant logs (i.e., enrollment logs), facilitating specimen collection, and assisting with regulatory documents. The candidate is also responsible for communicating with a wide variety of entities ranging from infectious disease providers, cancer care teams, and other research support. Experience with data management such as REDCap is preferred. The candidate will also be responsible for administrative tasks, such as maintaining study equipment and supplies, maintaining forms, assisting with grant materials, communicating with the IRB, and assisting the PI with any lab-related tasks that arise. Must work well in teams, be flexible, have the ability to think creatively, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills.Entity

MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:
A high school diploma and four years of relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.

Some research experience in public health or a related field is preferred.
Job Duties:
30%- Recruits study participants and ensure that subject recruitment and retention are completed per protocol procedures. Collects data through on-site or virtual intakes and follow-ups; structured interviews; or through other means for designated research assignments. Provides routine updates on status of research activities in team meetings.
30%-Records and compiles information related to research data. Codes and enters data into the database management system according to research specifications. Uses a variety of technological devices to input and retrieve data or generate reports.
20%-Must prepare and maintain regulatory documents and communication with IRB and electronic record keeping.
10%-Orders and maintains inventory of supplies. Assists in designing, developing, and modifying research experiments, procedures, or survey instruments in REDCap or a similar database. May assist research and support staff.
5%-Processes and summarizes data using scientific or statistical techniques. Assists in data interpretation and analyses.
5%-Performs additional functions incidental to research activities.
