Founding Engineer - AI Data Cleaning & Financial Infrastructure

Location: On site - New York

Compensation: $150,000 – $250,000

We are a high-growth, YC-backed company building the clean data layer for everyone, starting with financial firms. Our platform solves complex data cleaning challenges, delivering accurate, refined data via a simple API that integrates effortlessly into existing ELT pipelines, combining the best of AI and expert human review. We are seeking a Founding Engineer to design, build, and scale our core AI-powered data systems.

This is an unparalleled opportunity to join an early team and drive both the product strategy and the technical direction of the company. You will have immense impact and ownership, working across the entire stack to create a reliable and accurate data platform. You must be a strong engineer excited to work at the intersection of production software and frontier AI/LLM technologies.

What You’ll Do:

• System Ownership: Design, build, and scale our core data extraction, retrieval, and validation systems.
• Full-Stack Delivery: Work across the stack, including the Python backend, data and LLM pipelines, and TypeScript UIs, to deliver production-ready features.
• AI Architecture: Architect and optimize AI-powered workflows for speed, accuracy, and reliability in real-world data challenges.
• LLM Experimentation: Experiment with and fine-tune LLMs for specific data cleaning and processing tasks.
• Internal Tooling: Build tools and automation to make our own engineering and data review work easier and faster.
• Strategy & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the founder and early team to shape the product strategy and technical direction.

• Experience: 2+ years of experience in full-time full-stack, backend, or infrastructure engineering.
• Technical Breadth: Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to work comfortably across backend, data, and UI layers.
• Languages: Strong proficiency in Python; familiarity with TypeScript and/or a willingness to learn quickly.
• AI Excitement: Genuine excitement about working with AI in a production setting, integrating LLMs and data pipelines.
• Cultural Fit: A mix of high competence, strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and kindness.
• Mindset: Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to take full ownership from initial idea to a shipped product.

Logistics:

• Work Policy: In-person 5 days/week in our New York City office.
• Visa: Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

• Compensation: Competitive salary range of $150,000 – $250,000 (full-time).
• Equity: Competitive early-stage equity, which can go significantly higher than typical for the right candidate (e.g., someone who can immediately take on or grow into a CTO role).
