Skills
- Minimum 3+ years welding and piping inspection experience
- Strong welding inspection skills: WPS/PQR review, welder qualifications, weld visual inspection
- Experience with process and utility piping: stainless steel, carbon steel, high-purity, orbital welded systems
- Hands-on experience with hydrostatic, pneumatic, and helium leak testing
- In-depth knowledge of ASME Section IX, ASME B31.1/B31.3, AWS D1.1/D1.6 and related standards
- Ability to prepare and execute ITPs for welding and piping systems
- Proficient reviewing P&IDs, isometrics, fabrication drawings, and material submittals
- Experience managing NCRs and implementing CAPA
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management and audit processes
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with crews, subcontractors, commissioning teams and clients
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Mechanical QA/QC plan aligned with project specs, ASME, AWS, and local codes
- Prepare, implement, and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for welding, piping, and mechanical systems
- Inspect welding activities for compliance with WPS/PQR and welder qualifications; perform visual inspections
- Oversee fit-up, welding, and installation of process and utility piping systems (stainless, carbon, high-purity, orbital)
- Monitor and document inspections (pre-weld, in-process, post-weld) and coordinate NDE (RT, UT, PT)
- Supervise pressure testing including hydrostatic, pneumatic, and helium leak testing
- Verify piping materials and traceability versus approved submittals and specifications
- Review P&IDs, isometrics, fabrication drawings, and material submittals for compliance
- Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Maintain QA/QC documentation: inspection reports, test packages, and turnover dossiers
- Conduct field walkdowns, verify installation readiness, and manage punch lists
- Support commissioning: validate pre-functional checklists and redline drawings
- Participate in quality meetings, audits, and progress reporting with stakeholders
- Deliver toolbox talks and training on welding and piping quality standards
- Ensure calibration and certification of inspection tools and equipment
- Assist with project closeout documentation including O&M manuals and lessons-learned
Education
- CWI certification preferred
- Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Proof of education, licenses, and certifications required where applicable
