Basketball Communications Coordinator

Reports To:  Director, Basketball Communications

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

The Sacramento Kings are looking for a Basketball Communications Coordinator to add to their Communications team. The position is responsible for providing a wide range of support to the Communications department in all areas including, but not limited to, writing and disseminating media materials, researching statistical information, coordinating interviews, assisting with the credentialing process, and working with basketball personnel. 

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Assist in writing and disseminating press releases and media advisories
  • Manage the production of team game notes prior to every game
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the team’s statistical information
  • Assist in the composition of Kings media guides and postseason guides 
  • Oversee game night set up and media hospitality
  • Serve as a liaison between the media and team
  • Assist in coordinating player and coach interviews on game days and at practices
  • Assist in the credentialing process
  • Serve as point of contact to visiting media relations staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or other related field
  • 1-2 years of public relations/media relations experience preferred, preferably for a collegiate or professional sports organization

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including editing and proofreading
  • Must be well organized and detail-oriented with strong project and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask while adhering to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people and develop professional relationships with media, players, basketball staff as well as other departments within the Kings organization.
  • Must be service-oriented and committed to teamwork
  • Experience with Word, Adobe InDesign, Excel and Adobe Acrobat
  • Self-motivated with a positive and enthusiastic approach
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs or more
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Must be able to work game nights, extended hours, days, weekends and holidays when necessary
  • Ability to travel

Compensation:

The expected annual base salary for this non-exempt role is $41,600 - $46,500. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
