Overview

Kimley-Horn's Oakland office is seeking a Environmental Planner with 4+ years of experience to join their Environmental  team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Environmental Quality Act documents, environmental impact reports, and negative and mitigated negative declarations
  • Assist in Specific Plans, Master Plans, and other environmental or planning policy documents in support of a full range of infill and/or land development related projects
  • Perform a variety of tasks, supporting various project managers and collaborating with team members.
  • Will likely gain expertise in: Sustainability, climate action planning, ENVISION, LEED, and Salmon-Safe 
  • Environmental clearance associated with local comprehensive plans/local land use planning
  • Working with infrastructure projects from across industries such as transportation, transit, land planning, aviation

Qualifications

  • Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Environmental Planning (or other degree applicable to the planning field)
  • 4+ years of experience conducting environmental studies for local agencies and private entities
  • American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) Certification Preferred
  • Experience with a wide range of tasks related to environmental planning
  • Understanding of the agencies involved with the Environmental Quality Act process as well as the state's Land Planning Law
  • Experience with NEPA compliance is a plus
  • Strong writing/verbal skills
  • Working knowledge of GIS/ArcView
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

Salary Range:

$105,000 to $145,000
