Underwriting Assistant (Non-admitted Personal Lines)

This role provides vital support to senior underwriting staff by assisting in the evaluation and processing of personal lines and homeowners insurance policies. You will handle administrative tasks related to new and renewal accounts, risk assessment, and data collection while collaborating closely with underwriting teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Accountabilities:

• Assist senior underwriters with risk analysis by reviewing loss history and financial condition of cases.
• Collect, study, and evaluate documentation to determine insurance eligibility and risk.
• Conduct preliminary reviews of complex submissions to identify errors and confirm eligibility.
• Collaborate with the underwriting team to finalize insurance applications and process accounts accurately from quote approval through policy issuance.
• Utilize multiple databases to gather and verify necessary information for submissions.
• Manage inbound customer calls, providing guidance and ensuring a smooth customer experience.

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 1 year underwriting or related insurance experience preferred.
• Industry certifications such as CPCU, CIC, CRIS, or Property & Casualty Brokers License are a plus.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and aptitude for learning industry-specific software quickly.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
• Eagerness to learn, adapt, and embrace change in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
